I've been working for a long time on a sculpture of a medieval inspired map with mawsitsit continents. Mawsitsit, also known as jade-albite, is a gemstone found exclusively in northern Burma. It is not jade but one of it's components is jadite.

The design is in sterling and will be hung on the wall, most probably in a shadow box. The oceans have several creatures swimming in them, including a sea snake, a dragon (whose head pops out of the water ) and a diving mermaid, whose tail is visible. I'm still working on the carving that includes a dragon sitting on the top of the map. I recently added a small archipelago with a couple of volcanoes

As I think everyone knows I am very partial to both volcanoes and lava. Eventuality there will be a photo. And the opals whose photographs I showed here, designs will be finished very soon.

The photo is of a pair of yellow south sea pearl and cinnamon diamond earrings. The penny is there to give a sense of size. I spent a lot of time on these and am very very pleased with them.

comments
