I created this bronze design to compliment the exquisite red flash of the stone. The pearls seemed perfect to offset it. It’s from the collection of Sheila Gilbert.

This is a _exceptional_ Oregon sunstone that has been faceted. It has a marvelous red flash that is caused by the copper in the sunstone. They are mostly found in custom designed jewelry. I love them with their flash and variety of colors and tonality.

Quotes are from Wikepedia: Sunstone is a feldspar, which when viewed from certain directions exhibits a spangled appearance. It has been found in Southern Norway, Sweden, various United States localities and on some beaches along the midcoast of South Australia. The optical effect called schiller and the color in Oregon Sunstone is due to copper. The middle part of this crystal sparkles, and usually the color is darkest in the middle and becomes lighter toward the outer edges. Oregon Sunstone contains elemental copper. Oregon Sunstone is unique in that crystals can be quite large. The copper leads to variant color within some stones, where turning one stone will result in manifold hues: the more copper within the stone, the darker the complexion.
