Disc World Sculpture
Oct. 15th, 2013 09:18 pmI can finally put up the photos. It's sterling silver. The world is a boulder opal. All the elephants are different.
For folks who are not familiar with Disc World: It's a flat world balanced on the backs of 4 elephants standing on the back of a turtle that travels through space. Water pours off the edge of the world into space. All the elephants are fully sculpted and individually different from each other. (They are about 1" long and 3/4" high) The total sculpture is about 4" long and 3" high. It sits on a luminescent obsidian base that looks like deep space. (Not in the photographs.)
It took about 3 years to finish the sculpture. I loved making it.
Photos are pretty good but don't catch the finest levels of detail particularly in the water. Opal has lots of color flash that isn't very photographable.
