Chalcopyrite Pendant and Metal Work
Apr. 15th, 2018 09:06 pmAlmost all my metal work is done for now. I'm going back to work on my Wiscon guest of honor pendant. Will write more about it when I'm done with it. It will be the first design I've done from poetry and I'm excited about doing it. My head is full of images.
I've made a whole new group of rings for Wiscon with some particularity unusual stones.
The chacopyrite I work with is from the Volga River valley in Russia. The stone is natural and has a vivid sequin-like quality that I've never seen in another real stone.
The size is about 2.5 inches high the metal is patined bronze. The stone is much more vivid and sparkling with the colors almost moving in the light. In a way the image is like like a photo of a video. but I felt it still showed the stone and the work well enough to post.
From the collection of Tracy Schmidt.
