Black Spinel and Native Paint Pendant
Aug. 23rd, 2019 10:02 pmThe photo is of a pendant in sterling that I designed for the fascinatingly patterned stone.
Black spinels, and native paint stone - size is about 2.5" high. From the collection of Sheila Gilbert
I'm doing the final polishing on two bronze pendants. One of them will be set with a chalcapyrite that has some sparking rose. I've managed to get a touch of rose undertone in places in the bronze. I'm really pleased.
And the other bronze pendant is the amazing sea shaped Baltic amber I talked about earlier. I've been holding on to it for quite awhile I wanted to set it and I wanted to keep it too look at.
I'm working on rings for the World Fantasy Con. Looking forward to going to LA. I'll have the amber pendant there.
To completely change the subject, someone asked me where was the earliest art that I remember. I grew up in NYC when museums were free.I think these are 6 year old memories. The Van Gogh sunflowers at the old Modern Museum (not free) with the vivid golds that no longer exist and the Olmec heads in the Museum of Natural History. The stone head was about 4 times my height, They still look huge when i see them.
It's late. Good night.
