Double Pearl

I've been working on the design for the Mescalero jasper I wrote about and the wax is coming beautifully. And I've been working on a azurite and lapis cabochon that has a stunning burst of deep blue in the center. I'm probably going to include some small sapphires to reflect that deep blue. I wanted to photograph it so I could post it here, But it just doesn't photograph well. i spent more time then I should have trying to get a good photo, because it's so lovely, but no luck.

The double pearl below has me thinking about how to do a design for it. I know that I want to include woven wire as part of the design. I think looking at the shadings of color in the pearl that I'd probably make the setting bronze but I'll wait until I'm actually carving it to decide.

I'm being particularly fascinated by pearls lately, and I expect I'll be doing a fair amount of designing for them.
