Back from Lovely Downtime
Aug. 11th, 2019 07:40 pmI'm back, feeling very good, and just finished working on 2 waxes to be cast in bronze. One of them is for an ocean polished Baltic amber in a complex shape that I was lucky enough to find in Helsinki a few years ago. I found 6 of them that were absolutely beautiful after going through about 200 pieces. I've been working with them very slowly because I'm unlikely to have anything like this again. And I like looking at them.
And I've been polishing 2 sterling pendants for commissions. I'll have photos of these eventually. One is the stunning Bridewell stone I put up a photo of a while ago and the other is a beautiful subtle kuroit opal with small faceted black spinels and golden diamonds.
Meanwhile. the photo below is a sterling pendant with a particularly exquisite purple chalcedony with purple sapphires.
From the collection of Bayla Fine
And I've been studying cubist images because I'm going to be making a pendant heavily influenced by them. I haven't worked in that design place before and it's exciting.
I'm also working on rings in some especially interesting stones for World Fantasy in the fall.
Life is full.
