Stones for Thought

laurieopalI've been looking a stones to work with and these three really struck me.
This one is azurite and lapis. it's about 1" long. Colors are superb.

This stone is jasper and druze. The druze sparkles a lot more in the stone then in the photo, but the rest of the image works really well. The druze crystals have a much more diamond like sparkle in life. It's about 2.5"

This is dichroic hand made glass by Nancy Pearlman. It's abut 3" high.
"In optics, a dichroic material is either one which causes visible light to be split up into distinct beams of different wavelengths (colours) (not to be confused with dispersion), or one in which light rays having different polarizations are absorbed by different amounts". -Wikepedia.
I love the way it reflects light and colors.
