Bridewell Stone Design
Jul. 11th, 2019 08:50 pmI've been working on a design in wax for the Bridewell stone below. It's close to finished. Should be putting the last very fine touches on it Sunday and then it will be cast in sterling. I held it in the air to show the stone most accurately. (Dark shadow in the corner is the reflection from my finger.)
The stone is created by mixing pure earth elements at 2450F in custom kilns. Volcanic temperatures liquify the molten matrix of quartz, causing the elements to to bloom crystalline formations in the man made magma. It is then carefully cooled in order to foster the crystallographic growth.

And I'm working on a design for a kuroit opal that in an abstract vivid design that also reflects the patterning in the stone.
