Opal Dragon Fly and Jade Cats
Jul. 10th, 2020 05:44 pmI've been working on the Ethiopian opal ring and dreaming about opals. The photo is of an opal dragon fly pendant that will be in the collection of Simran Khalsa. It's in 14kt and black sterling with a red garnet (redder than the photo). I couldn't get the brilliance of the opal and the garnet together in a photo.
The photo below the dragonfly is a white jade Chinese handling piece of a cat and a kitten with a butterfly. Actually, they are playing with it destructively. I've written often about the influence on my work of small Asian carvings, and i love this one. It's in the jade collection of the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. When the world is normal, I visit it often.
